Karku

From Patagonia’s wild rivers to a family-run eco lodge — our story is born from passion, perseverance, and love for fly fishing.

Who We Are

Meet Sergio & Luisa

We’re Sergio and Luisa — founders of Karku Fly Fishing Lodge in Río Gallegos, Patagonia, Argentina. Passionate anglers. Warm hosts. Proud to call Patagonia home.

What began as two people camping by the river has become a welcoming lodge for anglers from around the world.

Our goal is simple: to share the thrill of fly fishing and the beauty of Patagonia through authentic, personalized experiences.

Our Story

Our journey began in January 2018, with little more than a tent by the river and a dream.

Sergio, born and raised in Río Gallegos, has fished these waters his entire life. A professional fly fishing guide, he has led anglers across Argentina and the Caribbean — always driven by a deep love for the art of fly fishing.
.

Over time, that passion turned into Karku Camp: a cozy, eco-friendly lodge powered by solar energy, surrounded by 40 kilometers of fishing waters.

The name Karku comes from the Tehuelche language, meaning “the other side of the river.” It honors the indigenous people of Patagonia and their enduring bond with this land.

Today, we host anglers from the U.S., Canada, and Europe, offering more than fishing — a genuine connection to nature, local culture, and the unforgettable spirit of Patagonia.

Our Philosophy

At Karku, we believe fly fishing is more than a sport — it’s a way to connect deeply with nature.
That’s why we keep our lodge small, hosting only four rods per week. Every guest receives personal attention, guided by passion and respect for the environment.

We take pride in using clean energy, local ingredients, and sustainable practices that preserve Patagonia’s wild beauty for generations to come.
